I've always loved photography, but unfortunately over the years I never had the time to devote to it. However, as I came close to retirement, I decided to do something about it. So I bought myself a Canon SLR camera, did a photography course and devoted as much time as I could to it. Although I had bought a digital camera, I did a course in developing and printing film using an old film camera I had. This was one of the best decisions I made, it made me concentrate on getting the correct shot at first attempt.
It's not always easy to motive yourself to get out there and spend the time needed to develop your skill, so to help me I decided to join a camera club. I joined Bray Camera Club. Through the club I met some fabulous people who through their experience helped me to develop my skills to the point that I felt confident to apply for a distinction with the Irish Photography Federation (IPF). In November 2014 I submitted the 10 image panel below and was awarded Licentiateship with the IPF.
